The case was filed July 4, 2003 in the UK High Court. Apple is accused of breaching a 1991 agreement over the use of the Apple trademark and the computer companies move into music services.
After years of legal cut and thrust the case goes to trial this week. Apple Corps wants Apple Computer to stop using the Apple brand in association with its music products and to pay damages.
If Apple Corps prevails in the case, damages are likely to reach millions of pounds.
Apple claims the 1991 agreement permits use of the Apple name to sell online data transfers, which are what downloaded songs amount to.
The case will be heard by Mr Justice Mann, who himself uses and iPod. Witnesses will include Apple Corps managing director Neil Aspinall and Apple Computer's head of iTunes, Eddy Cue.
