Symantec will now use Splunk's enterprise 6 to centralise, monitor and analyse security related data to help investigate incident and detect advanced threats.
It will also use Splunk software to ensure comprehensive compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). Symantec chief security officer, Julie Talbot-Hubbard, said it was critical that to react quickly to identify and respond to any type of threat, especially advanced threats that continue to increase in complexity.
"Our efforts, in combination with Splunk software, demonstrate that we are implementing best practices to not only protect our customers and partners, but also help with addressing critical customer problems," she said. Splunk vice-president of security markets, Haiyan Song, said Symantec was more than a valued Splunk customer.
"They also are a strong partner as together we help businesses and organisations tackle the toughest cybersecurity threats in the world," she said.
