Slim Devices is best known for producing the Squeezebox, a hardware device that lets you listen to music stored on your computer over a network through your home entertainment or hi-fi system. It features its own remote control, and supports 802.1g-based wireless networking and broad support for different audio codecs.
Adams said the two companies have been working together for some time now and the acquisition gives the Squeezebox and other Slim Devices products a chance to reach the mass market.
"Slim Devices will benefit from Logitech's brand, their retail channel, their expertise in developing quality hardware, and their existing portfolio of complementary products such as speakers and remotes," said Adams. "Logitech believes this will be a fast growing segment of their business, and we are looking forward to making that happen."
According to Adams all of the employees have accepted job offers, and will remain in the current Mountain View, Calif. location.
Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
